I didn’t read the description of this one before I read it. I just saw a reference to someone reading a book by Lorelei James and figured I’d give it a try. I figured it was a romance novel and there were cowboys, but that’s about all that I thought about it. I’m not particularly into cowboys, although I don’t mind country music and I live in a rural area.In other words, I did not know what I was getting into and I had very few preconceived notions.
Wow.
This book is erotic. There’s lots of sex. For me, this is a good thing, but I wasn’t expecting it. I was expecting it to be more on the romance novel of the spectrum. But it’s squarely in the erotica section.
As in the threesome and foursome erotica section.
So, once I realized what I was reading (and I’m no prude), I thought that the book was great. I was just surprised because it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. But it’s well-written, I liked the characters and the story, and the brawny, hot, cowboys and wise women.
A part that made me laugh was the description of their trip to a grocery store:
“She loaded up on fresh fruit, a few veggies. Whole-grain cereal and bread. Lunch meat. Diet soda. And canned soup.
Colby’s contribution to the cart was an extra large box of condoms, four cans of Skoal and a case of Bud Light.”
That pretty much explains their characters.
This book belongs in the pleasure section of the library, perhaps the guilty pleasure section, although I’m not sure I believe that pleasures need to be guilty. I want to read more by this author.

Channing is trying to figure what she really wants out of life and what better way to figure that out than to run away with the rodeo and get her freak on with some hot cowboys? I mean isn't that how we all find ourselves. Giggle.
Colby McKay is just a good time guy, who isn't really looking to settle down quite yet. That is until he meets Channing and things are way different with her. He doesn't want the usual with her, she makes him feel things he never really has. They both want each other so it should be easy right? HA, you thought wrong. Some things get in their way, so it's interesting to see how it all works out in the end.
Ok I read this on recommendation from a friend because it really is not my usual genre per say. I'm not really a cowboy girl, so while I wasn't really into the whole rodeo cowboy/cowgirl/ranchers plot, I can say that as an erotica this is super hot and steamy.
Extremely well written and I think the flow is nice. If you're looking for a story with a lot of storyline and plot, then this book probably isn't it since the majority of it is naughty bits. There is no cheating, but there are multiple partner situations in this book. Don't get me wrong there is some story as well, and even a side story that I believe turns into it's own angsty book, but it isn't the majority of the plot here.
If you're looking for a super naughty, erotic, cowboy rodeo book... you've found it.
Channing has lived her life as the obedient daughter. She's told what to do and where to go. She feels like she has no control of her life. After college and before starting a job her parents secured for her, she decides to go on a rebellious little trip. She wants to let loose and find her wild side. Where does she go you ask? She decides to follow the rodeo circuit of course!
Colby is a hot sexy bull riding cowboy. Colby travels the rodeo circuit with his best friend Trevor and friend Edgard. He's a big ladies man with the buckle bunnies. Channing catches Colby's eye. After Channing is left behind by her initial rodeo man, Colby comes to the rescue. She agrees to an all out week of sexual exploration with him and his travel mates. Yeehaw! And that right there is one interesting way to start a love story.
There are plenty of books with tons of sex and no story to go along with it. James manages to attach a decent story to this one. It would have been a 5 star read if we got a bit more history on Channing. How did she get to the rodeo? Where did the idea come from? I also would have loved a nice epilogue. But it is what it is. This book is steamy HOT and it pretty much has every different combination of menage, some roping, spanking - you name it! You probably won't want to read this one sitting at a coffee shop if you know what I mean..
The book is a first in series. The rest of the series follows Colby's family. He has a whole mess of brothers and a sister.
I rate the book 4 steamy, hot, sexy stars.

This book was my introduction to Lorelei James writing, and I have been hooked ever since!!
Completely different love story than I was use to at the time, but it was great. Loved Channing, her strength and openness to explore herself and her sexuality. And Colby!! Holy Hell talk about cowboy hotness!! Did I mentioned I am now hooked on cowboy books, especially rodeo cowboys.... especially not knowing anything about Rodeos!! Colby is one hell of an introduction into the McKay Family, him and this book came busting out with sexual hotness right out the gate, kind of like bull riding!! And boy what an intro too!!! Be prepared for a lot of hot sexy scenes.... variety is the spice of life and this book has the spice!!
Even with all of that spicy hotness going on, there is a great underlying love story happening too, which had me hooked and why I am now a huge Lorelei James fan of her writing!!
